Dan Burn has made his prediction for the Super Bowl and doesn’t sound hopeful for the team he wants to win.
With eyes of the sporting world being drawn to New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on Sunday for the Super Bowl, Newcastle United secured their own grand final this past week.
Eddie Howe’s side defeated Arsenal 2-0 in front of a raucous St. James’ Park, deservedly winning the semi-final 4-0 on aggregate.
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon both put in 10/10 displays but it was Jacob Murphy who poked home the opener when he pounced on a rebound after the Swede hit the post.
The goal couldn’t have come at a better time as Arsenal were just getting on top and Martin Odegaard had missed a sitter seconds earlier.
The tie was then truly put to bed just after half-time when relentless pressing from Fabian Schar got the ball to Gordon in on goal who tucked it away.
Newcastle fans are desperate to finally see their side win a major trophy after going 70 years without one when they play the Wembley final on March 16.
But Super Bowl LIX will be the first ‘football’ final of 2025 and Dan Burn has made his prediction.
Dan Burn reveals who he wants to win Super Bowl LIX
After the match on Wednesday, Burn and Kieran Trippier joined the Sky Sports pundits where they discussed how much getting to the final meant and how they’re better prepared this time than in 2023.
As the defenders said their goodbyes, Burn took it upon himself to bring up the subject of Sunday’s massive match, asking host Mark Chapman: “Who’ve you got for the Super Bowl?”
Chapman was taken aback by the surprise role reversal and instead turned the question back on Burn, who replied: “I want the Eagles to win but I think Chiefs.”
What is the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl is the grand finale of the American Football season, which will see the winners of the two conferences collide in a winner takes all game.
Over the years, the Super Bowl has become a multi-media extravaganza, becoming known for its epic half-time shows and the big new trailers that are shown during the ads.
This year, Kendrick Lamar will perform on the half-time show.
2025’s edition is even bigger as it’s a rematch of the dramatic 2023 Super Bowl that saw the Chiefs defeat the Eagles 38-35. Eagles, like Newcastle, will be aiming to avenge a final defeat from two years ago.
With Chiefs also claiming the title in 2024, they are now going for an unprecedented three-peat.
