Newcastle United injury update: Joelinton, Sven Botman and Jacob Ramsey latest news and return dates

Newcastle United appear to have been handed a major injury boost over Joelinton ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolves.

Even at this early stage of the campaign, Newcastle United’s game against Wolves feels like a must-win.

While draws against Aston Villa and Leeds plus losing to Liverpool can largely be explained away given the chaos the Alexander Isak saga was causing at the time, there can be little excuse on Saturday.

Wolves are in dire form and slipping up at home would be hugely disappointing for Eddie Howe’s side.

With that in mind, glimpses from the Newcastle United training ground offer a boost. Here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United injury news and return dates.

Joelinton

Joelinton missed the game with Leeds, having come off against Liverpool in tears following a groin injury.

That sparked major fears that the Brazilian could miss a significant period of action, given his struggles with injury last season too.

Still, Howe provided a positive update on the midfielder before the Leeds game and suggested he’d be back in action after the international break.

That appears to have been correct, as Joelinton has been spotted in training before Newcastle play Wolves

Potential return date: Saturday 13 September 2025 vs Wolves

Sven Botman

Sven Botman’s struggles with injuries have long been documented, so the sight of him coming off against Leeds was a blow.

Howe was quick to suggest that Botman wasn’t necessarily injured, despite the fact he did appear to need a member of the Newcastle medical team before going off at Elland Road after taking a knock to the foot.

Like with Joelinton, however, Botman was also seen in training before the Wolves game.

Jacob Ramsey

Summer signing Jacob Ramsey’s first start for Newcastle ended in disappointment, with the former Aston Villa midfielder forced off with what Howe later confirmed was a swollen ankle.

Newcastle have high hopes for Ramsey, so will no doubt be keen to have him back fit as quickly as possible.

Earlier this week, the club posted a photo of Ramsey smiling while doing gym work at the Newcastle United training ground.

Given the post’s caption of “Good vibes”, it’s perhaps fair to assume that his ankle injury isn’t particularly serious.

Potential return date: September 2025

Sandro Tonali

Sandro Tonali suffered a shoulder injury against Liverpool but ended up playing against Leeds shortly after.

Following that game, the Italian confirmed his shoulder was still not “100%” but he did play in both of Italy’s fixtures over the international break, scoring a dramatic late winner in a 5-4 win against Israel.

As such, there would appear to be little reason as to why Tonali cannot feature for Newcastle against Wolves.
