Some Newcastle United fans believe that impending manager Eddie Howe could get the best out of the club’s record signing Joelinton.

The Brazilian was Steve Bruce’s first signing after replacing Rafael Benitez.

The forward was bought for a club-record £40m (BBC Sport).

In 91 appearances for the Toon, the 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and given eight assists (Transfermarkt).

Joelinton hasn’t yet set the world alight or shown the form that made Mike Ashley spend an unthinkable amount of money during his tenure to secure his signature.

Prior to coming to Tyneside, Joelinton had scored 11 goals and given nine assists in 35 matches for Hoffenheim.

He averaged a goal contribution in every other game in the 2018/19 season (Transfermarkt).

However, in last night’s clash, Newcastle’s number seven gave a timely reminder of his qualities with a stunning through-ball into the path of Callum Wilson, who rounded Robert Sanchez.

The goalkeeper saw red after a VAR check for bringing down our top goalscorer, but it was piece of brilliance out of nothing from Joelinton that created the opportunity.

With Howe and Jason Tindall sat alongside Amanda Staveley at the Amex, Joelinton chose the perfect moment to showcase what he can bring to this Newcastle team.
