Newcastle United are not backing down as they attempt to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Magpies’ plans took a hit on Tuesday after Frankfurt rejected a £70million bid for Ekitike.
Then Liverpool entered the conversation, with the insinuation being that they will either sign Alexander Isak or Ekitike. Newcastle could easily let them have Ekitike to keep Isak, but reports from Germany suggest that Eddie Howe wants the lot.
Newcastle want Ekitike and Isak to play together, and are not being deterred by the pressure applied by Liverpool.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle United have made ‘significant progress’ in their pursuit of Ekitike.
They wrote on X: “Newcastle have made significant progress in talks with Hugo #Ekitike. It’s advanced. Frankfurt are expecting a second offer from Newcastle.”

As positive movement regarding Ekitike emerges, Newcastle’s stance has always been that Isak is not for sale.
