Anthony Gordon was the only Newcastle United player involved as Thomas Tuchel suffered his first defeat as England manager on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions were beaten 3-1 by Senegal in a friendly, with Newcastle United’s number 10 starting on the left of attack. Gordon’s performance got a mixed reaction, with the 24-year-old coming off in the 58th minute.
There was no appearance from Dan Burn, with the giant defender an unused substitute after playing the full 90 minutes against Andorra on Saturday.
But the one Newcastle United player who fans are stunned was not involved is Tino Livramento. That is despite the fact that the 22-year-old is not in the current England squad.

Newcastle United fans furious about Thomas Tuchel snubbing Tino Livramento
Instead, Livramento is with the England Under-21s for the European Championship. That decision came as a surprise, and some Toon supporters now believe it is even more surprising after seeing Kyle Walker play at right-back for the senior side.
Following England’s loss against Senegal, multiple Newcastle United fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to question why Livramento was not called up.
“Livramento in the Under-21s while that clown gets called up,” wrote one fan.
A second Newcastle supporter added: “Livramento would’ve solved a lot on England’s right side. It’s mad he never got a call up.”
This member of the Toon Army added: “Horrendous from England. Incomprehensible from the manager (re Walker and Toney). I repeat: laughable that Livramento wasn’t involved. Lewis-Sketchy…”
“Also how on Earth is Tino being left out over Kyle Walker,” asked a fourth Newcastle fan.
Another supporter pondered: “Seriously, how is Tino not in this squad. Walker is done at this level.”
Finally, a sixth Toon fan commented: “Walker in this team over Tino absolutely stinks.”
When Tino Livramento will play for England Under-21s
While the England senior camp is over, Livramento’s Under-21s journey is just about to begin.
The young Three Lions, who are managed by Lee Carsley once again, are in Group B against Czechia, Slovenia and Germany. Their campaign in Slovakia begins on Thursday as they aim to defend their crown, having won the 2023 European Championship.
- England Under-21s vs Czechia Under-21s, 8pm, 12th June
- England Under-21s vs Slovenia Under-21s, 5pm, 15th June
- England Under-21s vs Germany Under-21s, 8pm, 18th June
Livramento should have been involved with the senior side, but the Under-21s tournament represents a great opportunity for the right-back to continue his momentum. He has been outstanding for Newcastle United in 2025, playing a key role in the Magpies winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League.
It will also be a chance for Livramento to reunite with Elliot Anderson, with the former Newcastle United midfielder also in Carsley’s squad.
