Newcastle United fans are now desperate to see Sandro Tonali handed an improved new contract at the club.
Tonali is arguably Newcastle United’s star player after the sale of Alexander Isak and the Italian was brilliant as Eddie Howe’s side beat Wolves on Saturday to get their Premier League campaign up and running.
Newcastle are prepared to open contract talks with Tonali, such has been the level of his impact since returning from a ten-month ban from football last season.
While the midfielder still has three years to run on his contract at St James’ Park, supporters do not want to take any risks.
Isak had that length of time remaining on his deal but eventually forced his way out of the club.
Indeed, Tonali has been linked with a move to Juventus, and fans online are keen to see the club take action.

Newcastle United fans demand new contract for Sandro Tonali
Having watched him effectively run the game against Wolves, Toon supporters were urging the club to reward the Italy international for his fine form.
Another fan said: “The number 1 priority for the club at the moment should be handing a new contract to Sandro Tonali! Imperative we keep him!”
“Sandro Tonali, never seen him with a dirty kit. When you read and control the game with ease, there’s no need to go to ground for last ditch challenges. Get him tied down to a new contract asap,” said another supporter.
“Get Tonali tied down to a new contract asap, pay him whatever he wants,” was another comment.
Eddie Howe blown away by Sandro Tonali against Wolves
Speaking after the game, Howe was effusive in his praise of the former AC Milan midfielder.
The Newcastle United manager said: “I thought he covered every blade today.
“He was putting out a lot of fires on transition for us, and I think he’s done that superbly well.
“Sometimes, it’s not necessarily a quality that registers immediately, but the number of times that he reads the game and where the ball is going to drop and he’s there first, then you realise that it’s a massive skill of his.
“With his athleticism and his speed, defensively he’s one of the one of the reasons why he’s been so strong.
“Then, on the other side of the game, his use of the ball and creativity is massive for us. He nearly scored a great goal – I thought it was a great performance.
Rewarding the likes of Tonali and Tino Livramento for their fine form by way of a new contract feels very wise indeed.
Though there’s no suggestion either would act like Isak did this summer, it would be negligent if the club did not protect themselves against that.
Newcastle struck gold with Tonali. His time at the club hasn’t always been easy but he now surely must be considered one of Newcastle’s greatest players of the modern era.
Hopefully, the club manage to keep a hold of him for a while. He really is that good.
