Newcastle United fans are seriously questioning ‘wrong’ Tino Livramento decision

Newcastle United have big plans for Tino Livramento, as they aim to keep him away from Manchester City.

Tino Livramento is a Manchester City target, but Newcastle United have no plans to let him leave just two years after his arrival on Tyneside.

Instead, Newcastle want to extend Livramento’s contract. His current deal runs until 2028, but the Magpies intend to offer him a pay rise as they attempt to keep the defender away from Manchester City.

The 22-year-old is a player who Newcastle need to keep at St James’ Park long-term. He was a smart investment at £32million, with Newcastle buying a player who could be in the starting XI for the next decade.

Newcastle United fans name the player who should get a new contract ahead of Tino Livramento

However, some Newcastle United fans believe that the club are prioritising the wrong player when it comes to a contract extension.

According to some supporters on X, Alexander Isak is the player who should be getting a new Newcastle United contract before Livramento.

One Newcastle fan wrote: “I mean it’s well deserved. But it’ll probably take a year to get it agreed and where’s this talk for Isak?”

“Wrong person to give a contract to at this point,” added another member of the Toon Army.

“Surely Isak’s contract is more of a priority,” commented this Newcastle United supporter.

Another fan added: “I’m not opposed to this at all he deserves it 100%, but if anyone should be getting a new deal it should be Isak before anyone.”

Why Alexander Isak’s contract situation is more complicated for Newcastle United

Toon officials want to make Livramento one of their highest-paid players, but they want Isak to be the highest-paid player.

Newcastle want to extend Isak’s contract, and are willing to make him the best-paid player in the history of the club. However, that could mean he earns £1 more than Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle’s current highest-earner, or £100,000 more.

The Magpies are going to have to blow their wage structure to tie Isak down. If he were to leave, he would earn more than £200,000-a-week. That is the sum that Newcastle need to reach as a minimum to convince the 25-year-old to stay.

That is summed up by what Liverpool are paying Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman is going to earn £250,000-a-week at Anfield, with the Reds also interested in Isak.

The type of money Isak could earn elsewhere makes it difficult for Newcastle, while they also need to ponder the futures of other players. That includes Livramento, who could be offered fresh terms in the near future.

He certainly deserves a new contract, but the player who Newcastle United fans want to see put pen to paper is Isak.
