Newcastle United fans had plenty to say about former midfielder Elliot Anderson after he starred in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Newcastle were pushed down to ninth place in the Premier League table on Monday night after Nottingham Forest picked up their third win of the season.

There were a few familiar faces in action for Forest with former Newcastle duo Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood both starting.
The latter scored the only goal of the game just after the hour mark to secure all three points for Forest at the City Ground.

Elliot Anderson’s display vs Crystal Palace
Elliot Anderson ended up being a victim of Newcastle’s PSR situation over the summer, with the club forced to cash in on him to avoid a points deduction.
The 21-year-old joined Nottingham Forest for £35m while goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos moved the other way for £20m.
Anderson admitted it was “tough” leaving Newcastle given it was his boyhood club, and it was a deal that “really disappointed” Eddie Howe.
To make matters worse, Anderson has hit the ground running at Forest and his sale is Newcastle’s biggest transfer regret.
Anderson was in great form again on Monday evening as he carved up Crystal Palace’s defence. He ended the match with 67 touches, five key passes, two big chances created and a passing accuracy of 95 percent.
Newcastle United fans react to Elliot Anderson display
At a time when Newcastle are in a goal crisis, it was an extremely tough watch for Toon fans.
Supporters took to social media to react to Anderson’s performance, and the recurring message was that his sale could prove to be a big mistake.
One supporter wrote: “My god, Elliot Anderson is unreal. What have we done.”
A second added: “Still can’t wrap my head around us getting rid of Elliot Anderson, what a player” while another posted: “Eddie watching Elliot Anderson turn into Lionel Messi tonight.”
One fan pointed out that Anderson would improve Newcastle’s current lineup: “Elliot Anderson would solve an awful lot of our problems this season”.
Just weeks after his exit, others are hoping for a way back for Anderson: “Surely there’s a buy back option in his contract”
Newcastle were forced to sell Anderson, but one fan has suggested he would rather the club have breached the rules, saying: “I’d rather have taken the 6 point deduction and kept Elliot Anderson.”
