Eddie Howe is the only one who can truly solve this dilemma, but we asked Newcastle United fans to think about how the club can best utilise Lewis Miley from here on out.
Amid the injury crisis at Newcastle United, Howe has been able to lean on young Lewis Miley to support in the right-back position.
Where is Lewis Miley’s best position – RB or CM?!
It’s not a position he had ever played before, and yet he’s taken to it like a duck to water. Indeed, Miley has been one of the best players in recent weeks for Newcastle, and the fans are loving it.
So much so, in fact, that Miley was voted man of the match vs Crystal Palace at the weekend. Now, Geordie Boot Boys readers have told Howe what the best way to use the teenage star is.

Right-back or centre-midfield: What is best for Lewis Miley?
In our TalkingPoints discussion board, fans have been debating whether Miley should stay at right-back or move back to his preferred central midfield role.
One reader said: “Centre-mid but he’s been great at right-back. Shows how mature and technically proficient he is.”
Another replied: “Central midfield no doubt about it. He’s similar to, but even better than Michael Carrick was.”
A third added: “Been great at right-back but his future is always going to be in the middle.”
A couple of other readers suggested it doesn’t matter where Miley is played, because he’s so good he will excel anyway.
“Play him anywhere. He is an outstanding talent,” one said. “His best position is anywhere he is picked. He is improving every game… now sort out a new contract for him,” another added.
However, there is one problem: he has three top class players ahead of him in Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, and Joelinton. As one fan commented, “I’m just not sure he can push any of the three in midfield off their spots at the moment.”

Lewis Miley is BETTER than Elliot Anderson was at his age. Prove me wrong 👀
Lewis Miley should stay at right-back vs Leeds
While playing at right-back, Miley has broken Premier League records for his passing proficiency. Against Crystal Palace, Miley even bagged a crucial assist to give Newcastle the lead.
Despite this, Eddie Howe has said Miley belongs in midfield, and we’ve no doubt Tino Livramento will take back his new spot soon enough.
However, in our predicted Newcastle XI to face Leeds, we suggested Miley should keep his place at right-back. He does not deserve to be dropped, and Howe should not change a winning formula.
