The result ensured Newcastle’s win against Brentford on Wednesday was improved upon. In the space of a week Newcastle have scored 11 goals in three games.
Jacob Murphy carried on his good form with a goal and assist while Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali continued to improve their midfield partnership.
The win puts Newcastle up to seventh before other teams play on Sunday but the high-scoring win puts the Magpies in the driver’s seat to stay there.

Alexander Isak’s performance against Ipswich in numbers
Isak was simply sensational in front of goal in the win against Ipswich.
The 25-year-old scored his eighth, ninth, and 10th goals of the season in just 31 touches and could’ve had more at a rainy Portman Road.
Isak managed nine touches in the opposition box, got all of his five shots on target, made two passes into the final third, 12 of his 18 pass attempts, created two chances, one big chance and made one recovery (Fotmob).
The club record fee Newcastle paid is beginning to look like a bargain, much to the delight of Howe.
