It looks like Kieran Trippier is going to have a new Newcastle United shirt number for the 2022/23 season.
The right-back was given the number 15 jersey when he arrived in January, which was one of the lowest numbers available at the time.
However, outgoings mean that other numbers are now available, and that is something Trippier appears to be taking advantage of.

Ciaran Clark has joined Sheffield United on loan for the season, meaning the number two is vacant. However, it might not be for long.
Kieran Trippier wearing number two during pre-season
The Magpies face 1860 Munich this afternoon in Austria, in the first of two games during their pre-season tour.
Trippier is starting on the bench for Newcastle, with Emil Krafth beginning the game on the right of defence.

But the most interesting thing to note from the Toon team sheet is a change in number for the England international. He is the second substitute listed, and looks set to don the number two jersey.
The team confirmation does state at the bottom that squad numbers are ‘subject to change‘. However, it would be off for Trippier to wear number two then go back to 15.
For the purists who like seeing a proper one to 11, Trippier’s new shirt number is excellent news. But it’s not good for the supporters who have bought new shirts with ‘Trippier 15’ on the back.

Newcastle’s new singings also appear to have their new numbers confirmed. Nick Pope is wearing 22, while Matt Targett continues with 13 on his back.
As for Sven Botman, who starts on the bench, he is the Magpies’ number four. That shirt did belong to Matty Longstaff, but he’s wearing 27, which previously belonged to Freddie Woodman.
The official numbers are yet to be confirmed, but this appears to be a strong indication on who will be wearing what for the new Premier League season.
