Ciaran Clark’s loan move from Newcastle to Sheffield United has officially been confirmed.
News broke over the weekend that the defender could be going to Bramall Lane, and now the move has been announced.
He well spend the full season on loan in the Championship with the Blades, who will be hoping to achieve promotion to the top flight.
The addition of Clark will boost their chances of going up. He was a star for Newcastle in the second tier, and will hope to have the same type of impact in Yorkshire.

A sad end for Ciaran Clark at Newcastle
Confirmation of the season-long loan means it is all but confirmed that Clark will never play for Newcastle again.
His contract at St James’ Park expires next summer, meaning he will not be returning to Tyneside. It signals the end of an era for Clark, who joined Newcastle back in 2016.
It’s a sad end to his time as Newcastle player, as he was incredibly reliable until last season. Sadly, his performances in the 2021/22 campaign will tarnish his legacy for some supporters.
Clark’s last appearance for the Magpies came as a substitute against Leeds in January. He came on and played an important role in the 1-0 victory.

After that, the 32-year-old was removed from the Premier League squad and failed to secure a move away.
That’s left him with nothing to do but train since then, and Clark has now commented on what the last few months were like for him at Newcastle.
Clark shares how he feels about the end of his Toon career
Following his move to Sheffield United, the Blades’ in-house media asked Clark how important it will be to be playing regular first-team football.
“Yeah definitely,” he said.
“Just to be involved in and around the first team squad again will be massive for me.
“I spent six months last season not involved and just training, which is not a great feeling to be honest. But this is a new challenge, a fresh start and one that I’m looking forward to.”

It must have been very difficult for Clark to watch Newcastle in 2022 and see how well they performed without him. It will surely have made the club’s success a bittersweet experience for him.
But he played a vital role in laying the foundations. He was an important player in the final years of Mike Ashley’s ownership, and deserves a lot of respect from fans.
Hopefully he can get his career back on track at Sheffield United, and he reminds everyone how good a defender he can be.
Good luck, Ciaran!
