James Tarkowski was one of the first names linked with joining Newcastle United after the takeover went through.
It was a rumour that excited Toon fans, who have witnessed multiple shambolic performances at the back this season.
Tarkowski would be an excellent addition. He’s better than what we’ve got at the back and he’s got the experience we need to get out of a relegation battle. You could call him the perfect signing.

However, Newcastle might face competition for his signature from a team a lot higher up the table.
James Tarkowski reportedly open to West Ham move
According to the Evening Standard, West Ham boss David Moyes remains an admirer of Tarkowski. They add that the 28-year-old would be open to a move to the London Stadium.
However, the report states that the £20million price tag could be an issue for West Ham despite new investment arriving at the club.
Tarkowski’s contract at Turf Moor is set to expire next summer, making his £20million valuation somewhat over the odds.

But West Ham’s need for a centre-back may increase with Angelo Ogbonna set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It seems as though Tarkowski is desperate for a move away. While the Evening Standard claim he would be willing to join West Ham, the same has been said about a possible move to St James’ Park.
This deal may just come down to who is willing to pay the price Burnley want. But if West Ham are willing to match us then it would be hard to see Tarkowski turning down a move to the in-form Hammers in favour of a relegation battle.
