According to the Chronicle, Newcastle remain confident about signing Joe Willock from Arsenal this transfer window.
The midfielder had an incredible loan spell at St James’ Park, with his goals dragging the Magpies to safety.
In total, Willock scored eight times after arriving from Arsenal on February 1st.
He scored on his debut against Southampton, then later went on a run of scoring in seven consecutive games.
It was a sensational streak from Willock, equalling Alan Shearer’s record of scoring in consecutive games for Newcastle.
The 21-year-old added a different dimension to our attack, ensuring we weren’t just relying on Callum Wilson for goals.
Fans are desperate for Willock to return. The midfielder was serenaded by supporters when St James’ Park reopened its doors against Sheffield United.
Newcastle have had some great players on loan in recent years, but have often failed to sign them permanently. They can’t make the same mistake with Willock.
But will he return to the club this summer?

According to the Chronicle, there is apparently a willingness from Arsenal to sell Willock. However, they claim that if a transfer is to happen, it will likely be nearer the end of the summer.
Just like Newcastle, the Gunners need to move some players on to increase their transfer kitty.
And with the Magpies very keen to bring Willock back, there is clearly a deal to be done.
While Willock probably proved a lot of people at Arsenal wrong, he is now one of their most sellable assets.
When you need to raise money, the biggest problem can often be finding a buyer.
But Steve Bruce made it very clear he wants bring Willock back.
A fee of £20million has been reported, and if he can replicate anything like the form we saw on loan, he would be worth every penny.
