Newcastle United are reportedly going to sign Jordan Hackett on a free transfer.
Multiple outlets have reported on the Magpies’ imminent arrival. The Chronicle have wrote that the 18-year-old will become a Newcastle player on July 1st.
That’s when his Tottenham Hotspur contract expires, with the North London side deciding against extending the teenager’s deal.
Hackett is a left-back, and reportedly impressed Toon officials during a trail in May. The Northern Echo state that he featured in a 1-1 draw against Rangers’ Under-23s team.
He will now become a Newcastle United player, and joins the club at a very exciting time.

Newcastle are making a clear effort to boost their youth ranks. They have completed a deal for Alex Murphy from Galway, and are also set to sign Charlie McArthur from Kilmarnock.
Hackett is set to join too, and will link up with the club’s youth setup for the 2022/23 campaign.
It’s another step in the right direction, with change happening at every level. Dan Ashworth is pulling the strings, as he looks to increase the amount of talent the club has in the academy.
Part of his job is to identify and sign young players who can join the club at a young age and develop into first-team stars. That’s something he did at Burnley, with Robert Sanchez an example.
The Magpies will hope Hackett has a bright future at St James’ Park and eventually develops into a Premier League player.
He played for Tottenham’s Under-18s side last season, and also featured in the FA Youth Cup. Hackett also has one cap for the England Under-18s.
Two deals expected tomorrow
Hackett could be one of two new arrivals at St James’ Park tomorrow, but the other transfer will probably get a lot more attention.
Newcastle confirmed a deal in principle for Sven Botman on Tuesday, but the deal isn’t officially completed yet.
The Shields Gazette believe Botman will become an official Toon player on July 1st, with Lille delaying the deal due to financial reasons.
Botman arrives for big money from the Ligue 1 side, with the club hoping he develops into a Premier League titan of defending.
Hackett will have the same ambitions, but his journey will take a bit longer.
