Newcastle United are interested in signing three players from Leicester City. Not one, not two, but three.

That’s according to i News, who state that the Magpies had a £40million offer rejected for James Maddison on Friday.

Talk of a move for the attacking midfielder caused real excitement from the Toon Army, despite the bid being turned down. It’s another signal of intent, and he’s another player who would turn heads if he moved to St James’ Park.

However, he’s not the only current Foxes star who Eddie Howe would like to see in black and white.

Newcastle interested in two more Leicester players as well as Maddison

i News state that Newcastle are also interested in signing winger Harvey Barnes and midfield sensation Youri Tielemans.

Barnes was linked with the Magpies last week, while Tielemans is a player who was first linked with Newcastle shortly after the takeover.

All three of our targets from Leicester would be incredible signings. However, there is no chance we will sign more than one. In fact, we might be lucky to get any of them. The figures being reported are way too high for Newcastle.

We already know that it will take a club record bid to get Maddison, having had £40million turned down. Barnes will likely command a similar amount, with it being reported last week that Leicester want £50million for him.

Tielemans is the most interesting, given that his contract at the King Power expires next summer. It’s been claimed that he won’t sign a new deal with Leicester, putting Brendan Rodgers’ side in a tricky position. They might have to cash in this summer.

But Newcastle’s interest in three Leicester stars is very exciting. And it makes sense. The Foxes need to sell this summer to generate cash for new signings, making them vulnerable to losing their top stars.

Leicester’s loss would be Newcastle’s gain. It’s now up to Dan Ashworth and co to decide which Leicester player they should focus their interest on.

Given that we need to add more goals to the team, my money would be going on Maddison.
