Newcastle United have reportedly been considering a move for Noa Lang, and it looks like the Club Brugge forward is very affordable.
The Athletic reported at the start of July that the Magpies had been watching Lang, as they eyed an alternative to Moussa Diaby. Bayer Leverkusen simply want too much money, and he has since confirmed his desire to stay where he is.
Newcastle are now looking elsewhere, as Eddie Howe looks to bolster his attacking ranks. And Lang is certainly an exciting option – and one who might not cost a fortune.
Noa Lang could cost as little as £17million
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Lang’s future. He’s written on Twitter that there’s a good chance he will leave this summer, as multiple teams look to sign him.
No teams are named, but Romano does state how much the 23-year-old could cost. A price could range from as little as £17million to as much as £21.25million.
That fits within Newcastle’s price range. It’s been claimed that we have £50million left to spend this summer. With a striker also being targeted, spending around £20million on Lang could prove to be excellent business.
He’s the kind of forward we need. The Dutchman is versatile, capable of playing anywhere across the forward line. He’s very easy on the eye too, with Rafael van der Vaart calling him ‘amazing to watch‘.
He’s got end product to back it up as well, providing 19 goal contributions last season. He was even better the year before when he got 22 goals and assists. Of course, it has to be factored in that this was in the Belgian League. However, they are still impressive numbers.
Lang has huge potential for improvement, and Howe has already proven that he has the ability to make players better.
Newcastle have been linked with some exciting wingers, but don’t appear willing to pay the big bucks. If that’s the case then Lang could be the best option out there. He’s young, versatile, good in front of goal and available for a reasonable price.
