Reported Newcastle United transfer target Arthur Melo could be heading to the Premier League, according to well-respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica recently claimed that the Brazilian midfielder could leave Juventus in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old is reportedly unhappy with his lack of playing time this season and is considering his options.
And Newcastle are reportedly interested in him.
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri restored the former Barcelona man to his starting line-up in Wednesday’s 1-0 win against Malmo. Arthur produced an impressive performance and dominated the tempo of the match, showing his full range of passing qualities.
Fresh after completing the full 90 minutes for the first time this season, Arthur would have hoped his eye-catching return to the side resulted in him being rewarded with just his second Serie A start of the season, when the Old Lady travelled to Venezia yesterday.
But that couldn’t have been further from the case, the man who started his career at Gremio didn’t even get a place on the bench, in the 1-1 draw, despite coming through the midweek Champions League game unscathed.
However, according to Juvefc, Arthur’s omission against Venezia was due to the player being late for training on Friday morning and Max Allegri opted to leave him at home as a result.
But Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on what Arthur’s agent Federico Pastorello has said, regarding his client’s future in Turin.

With Romano expecting Arthur to ‘leave the club soon’, Newcastle are inevitably going to be strongly linked with the South American star, due to our new-found wealth.
The potential big-money signing of Juventus’ number five in January, at a time when we’ll be in the thick of a relegation battle, presents a big risk.
A more favourable option, if Eddie Howe wants PIF to pursue Arthur’s signature, would be to explore a six-month loan, with a view to a permanent deal.
This will all depend on Juventus’ stance on Arthur and whether they would be happy to loan him out. He has the potential to be an incredible statement signing on Tyneside, but it feels like those calibre of players should wait until the summer when our top-flight status has hopefully been retained.
