Newcastle transfer news: Real Madrid want Bruno Guimaraes to replace Casemiro

Real Madrid reportedly want to sign Bruno Guimaraes if Casemiro leaves the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 30-year-old is currently being linked with a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are looking to make a splash in the transfer market after a rotten start to the season that has left fans furious, and Casemiro is the latest name rumoured to be heading to the North West.

And that could have repercussions in the North East according to a report in Spain.

Real Madrid want Bruno

Spanish outlet AS believe that Newcastle midfielder Bruno is Real Madrid’s top target if they decide to sell Casemiro.

However, they add that it would not be easy to complete a deal for the 24-year-old Brazilian. Bruno joined the Magpies in January, and has been a hero ever since.

The way he’s settled in has been remarkable, and he’s quickly established himself as not only Newcastle’s best players but one of the best in the entire Premier League.

Given how well he’s done, it’s no surprise that Real Madrid are keen. It’s a testament to his incredible ability.

This isn’t the first time he’s been linked with Los Blancos. There was a report earlier in the year stating that Bruno could be a target in 2023, as Real continue to plan for the future.

However, those plans could be accelerated if Casemiro is sold.

How much Newcastle would sell Bruno for

AS add that it would take a huge fee for Newcastle to sell their talisman. They state that the Magpies would ask for at least double what he cost from Lyon in January.

We paid £42million including add-ons, which means Newcastle would command a figure of more than £80million. That would make him the most expensive player the Magpies have ever sold, and one of the biggest transfers ever.

But even at £80million, we would be crazy to sell. Bruno is simply too important. He is now the focal point of our team, and has transformed a once sluggish and one dimensional midfield.

He is already invaluable to us, and is going to play a huge part in our future. Selling him for that much would at least give us more money to spend, but it would be almost impossible to replace a player of Bruno’s calibre and strengthen the squad on top of that.

Madrid might have Bruno down as a Casemiro replacement, and it would be an absolute disaster if he left St James’ Park.
