Newcastle United might not have to wait much longer to find out if they can sign Christian Pulisic before the transfer window closes.
The American winger is one of four Chelsea players the Magpies want to sign, but only one can arrive on loan.
The other targets are Armando Broja, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher, but Pulisic would be the pick of the bunch. He is an incredible player who needs to be playing regularly.
That would happen at Newcastle, but we’re yet to find out whether or not the 23-year-old is keen on move.
He was interested in going to Manchester United, but, as Fabrizio Romano explains, that’s not happening.
Romano provides update on possible Pulisic transfer
Transfer expert Romano has spoke to Caught Offside about the Pulisic situation, stating that Man United have now moved on after being rebuffed in their bid to land the USA international.
As for Newcastle, a decision hopefully isn’t too far away.
“A lot continues to be written about Christian Pulisic’s future, and I expect this could be resolved soon. Still, I wouldn’t bet on him ending up at Old Trafford,” he said.
“Manchester United’s only request for information for Pulisic was a week ago, but Chelsea would not want to accept a loan deal with an important club like Man Utd.
“Newcastle have also wanted him on loan for months, certainly a decision will be made soon.
“As for Man United, they are now focused on Antony or Cody Gakpo for that position.”
Newcastle need an answer over Pulisic soon
It feels like the writing is on the wall for Pulisic. He once again didn’t start on Sunday, coming off the bench for Chelsea for the third game running.
That’s not what he needs heading into the World Cup. Every minute spent as a substitute will surely inspire him to leave Stamford Bridge even more.
But while the £58million man warms the bench, Newcastle are a fallen giant emerging from the ashes. The latest chapter in our rise took place on Sunday, with Eddie Howe’s side putting on a show against champions Manchester City.
It was an absolutely epic encounter. Both sides went at each other and the game ended 3-3. St James’ Park was absolutely bouncing, as the atmosphere propelled the Magpies towards what felt like an unlikely point before kick off.
By the end of the game, there was disappointment that we didn’t actually win.
However, the performance and atmosphere will hopefully have been noticed by Pulisic. It’s the kind of thing that could inspire him to make a move.
It was reported that he wanted to join Man United on loan. That’s understandable given their stature. But that deal isn’t possible, as Chelsea don’t want to send him to a direct rival. Erik ten Hag is now looking elsewhere, which is good news for us.
With not too long remaining in the transfer window, Chelsea need to make a decision about Pulisic soon. Romano believes that will be happening, but just how soon ‘soon’ is remains to be seen…
