Newcastle transfer news: Nottingham Forest make Emmanuel Dennis bid

Newcastle United might need to get a move on if they want to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Watford.

That’s because Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an offer for the Nigerian forward. According to the Athletic, Steve Cooper’s side have bid £20million for the 24-year-old.

That might be enough to take him to the City Ground, as it has been claimed that Watford want exactly that much for their number 25. However, the Hornets’ stance may depend on how Forest have structured the deal. But it is reportedly worth a total fee of £20million.

Dennis would be a good signing for Forest, who have had a very busy summer so far and are showing no signs of slowing down. They certainly need more options after their performance at St James’ Park on Saturday.

But Newcastle are also in the market for a player like Dennis, and have been linked with a move for the former Club Brugge star.

Newcastle might miss out as Forest make Dennis bid

It’s no surprise to see Premier League clubs looking to sign Dennis. He was excellent in a poor Watford team last season.

He scored 10 league goals and provided six assists, but it wasn’t enough to keep his side in the top flight. However, it should be enough to earn him a move back to the Premier League. But where will he go?

Well, it seems as though Dennis has been offered around. It was previously claimed by the Chronicle that Newcastle had been given the chance to sign him. And that offer probably extended to multiple teams.

While the Magpies clearly didn’t immediately say yes, there has been interest from the North East. 90min stated last month that Dennis is now on Newcastle’s radar and that a move was being considered.

Given what he achieved last season, his versatility, his ‘skill‘, how ‘fast‘ he is and our struggles to sign attackers, Dennis could prove to be an astute signing.

However, time is running out to get him to St James’ Park if that’s what Eddie Howe wants. Forest have made their move, and have proven they aren’t going to mess about in the transfer market.

If Howe genuinely wants Dennis in his squad then he needs Dan Ashworth to make a move fast.
