Newcastle transfer rumour: New owners are keeping an eye on Tottenham’s Harry Kane

Harry Kane is now being linked with Newcastle United. That’s right, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Since the takeover was completed last week, the landscape of the club has changed.

New players are being linked each passing minute, with each rumour even more ridiculous than the last.

TalkSPORT pundits Darren Ambrose and Darren Bent spoke about the possibility of Kane joining the new Newcastle United – a debate we had to laugh at it was that farcical.

But now Eurosport claim that the England captain is a player that the new Newcastle owners are keeping an eye on.

Does that mean we owe TalkSPORT an apology?

Harry Kane at Newcastle? Really?!

The report states that Newcastle want an English spine. Technically they’ve already got that with Callum Wilson up front, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden in midfield, and Jamaal Lascelles at the back…

Eurosport write that the new owners are believed to have an eye on Tottenham’s number 10 as someone who could ‘transform expectation levels’ at St James’ Park.

This all seems pure fantasy at the moment. I mean of course Newcastle would want Kane, he’s one of the best strikers in the world. Every club would have Kane if they could.

But is he really going to come to the North East? We certainly have the finances now…

But the club is still in a huge state of transition. We’re 19th in the league, nowhere near pushing for Europe.

If we’re going to sign big-time players like Kane, we need to be at least challenging to be in the Champions League.

The new Newcastle owners obviously have big ambitions, but Kane is the biggest name linked so far.

It’s not even nearly January – this is going to be a long winter…
