Newcastle United are expected to be busy during the January transfer window.
There have already been so many links even despite the fact there’s still so much football to play between now and then.
While Kalvin Phillips is the player most strongly linked with a move to Newcastle, perhaps another player could be on his way.

Indeed, Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen was linked over the course of the summer but there are now fresh reports suggesting he could have emerged on the club’s radar again.
Newcastle transfer news: Joachim Andersen latest
According to the print edition of the Sunday People (page 53 on 22/10/2023), the Danish international is now Newcastle’s No.1 target heading into the January window.
Efforts were reportedly made to sign the defender during the summer window, with Andersen of interest to Eddie Howe for some time.
They claim it is expected Newcastle will try again at the turn of the year, although it will likely cost the Magpies much more than the £17m Palace paid to sign him from Lyon.

Joachim Andersen: Newcastle transfer makes sense
Hailed as a “leader” earlier in his career, Andersen could provide some vital cover for Newcastle.
Though Jamaal Lascelles has stepped up in the absence of Sven Botman of late, relying on the club captain alone does not feel like a particularly long-term plan, with Howe’s squad needing to remain competitive in a number of competitions.
Fabian Schar, meanwhile, simply cannot go on forever despite how good he’s been for pretty much the whole Howe era. Though Dan Burn could also operate as a central defender, he continues to thrive at left-back even despite the summer arrival of Lewis Hall.
With that in mind, Andersen feels like a logical addition. Proven in the Premier League but younger than Schar, it certainly makes sense.
