Newcastle United are being linked with Mauro Icardi, with the star set to leave Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Calciomercato, the Argentina international will bid farewell to the French giants this summer and embark on pastures news.

It’s stated that club and player will part, ‘probably not to see each other again’, even if it won’t be easy. That would suggest PSG want to sell, rather than loan.
Apparently, Arsenal could reignite their previous interest in the player.
And Manchester United and Newcastle are also mentioned. And there’s interest from Spain too in the form of Sevilla and Real Sociedad.
Icardi was linked with a move to Newcastle shortly after the takeover went through back in October.
Newcastle will undoubtedly be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer.

At the moment, Callum Wilson, Chris Wood and Dwight Gayle are the only options.
Gayle is highly likely to leave, and Wilson’s injury record is not great. And Wood is not a long-term solution, so the Magpies are bound to be looking at new strikers.
Icardi probably hasn’t really lived up to expectation at the Parc des Princes since his £45 million move (Guardian). But he still has a pretty good record of 38 goals in 91 matches.
Icardi is a proven goalscorer who could improve Newcastle
At 29, Icardi is probably not a particularly good long-term option.
But there is no denying that the man is a goalscorer.
His time at PSG hasn’t really quite gone to plan. It’s difficult to compete with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Angel Di Maria.

But he still has a record of one goal every three games, and obviously he really made his name with Inter Milan, scoring 124 goals in 219 matches.
There’s no mention in the report of what PSG would want for Icardi. With two years left on his contract though, he probably wouldn’t come cheap.
