Newcastle United have received a boost in their bid to sign Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian is a lot of Toon fans’ dream signing this summer. Supporters are desperate to see Bruno Guimaraes reunited with his best friend.
The duo met up in Newcastle recently, while they’ve also played alongside each other whilst on international duty.
But the dream is to see them both in a Newcastle United shirt.

Newcastle willing to break transfer record for Lucas Paqueta
Having failed to sign him in January, the Magpies are back in for Paqueta this summer.
The Times recently reported that the club are willing to break their transfer record to bring the 24-year-old to St James’ Park. They add that he is one of Eddie Howe’s top targets.
It has been claimed by the Times that he will cost around £50million. That is a lot of money. It would eclipse the £40million spent on Joelinton in 2019. And it’s more than the amount Bruno could end up costing, with add-ons potentially taking that deal to £42million.

Paqueta will be incredibly expensive, but Newcastle have received a boost in their bid to sign him.
He’s keen to leave Lyon
According to L’Equipe in France, Paqueta wants to leave Lyon this summer. They add that Newcastle are yet to make an approach for the Brazil international.
He would be another game-changing signing for Newcastle, who shocked the footballing world with some of their signings in January.

Kieran Trippier and Bruno really raised the stakes at SJP, and Paqueta would be of a similar mould.
Combine his stature with his best pal playing for Newcastle and this feels like a match made in heaven.
However, it all depends on if the Magpies can agree a fee with Lyon – and if Paqueta wants to make the move. But that is surely possible given Bruno has probably waxed lyrical about life in the North East.
A move to Newcastle for Paqueta still feels fanciful, but you never know. The stars appear to be aligning, or perhaps this is just pure fantasy.
