Martin Dubravka’s loan move from Newcastle United to Manchester United has finally been confirmed.
The Slovakian will be spending the season at Old Trafford, having lost his place in Eddie Howe’s starting XI to Nick Pope.
Since the arrival of Pope, the Magpies have needed to move at least one goalkeeper on. However, not many people expected it to be Dubravka.

But the 33-year-old has completed a deadline day move away from St James’ Park. He will now be competing with David De Gea to be Man United’s number one.
It’s sad to see Dubravka leave Newcastle. He was an excellent player under multiple managers. It’s also a bit disappointing to see him join the Red Devils after the way they acted in January over Jesse Lingard.
They priced him out of a move to Newcastle, demanding a stupid amount of money to take him on loan last season.
Now it’s Man United loaning from Newcastle, so how much are they paying to borrow Dubravka?

Loan fee Man United are paying Newcastle for Dubravka
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have paid £2million to loan Dubravka for the season. The deal also includes an option to buy, which can be triggered if they pay a further £6million.
That means if Dubravka joins Man United permanently next summer then he will have cost them a grand total of £8million. That’s double what Newcastle paid for him in the summer of 2018.

Making a profit on a 33-year-old backup goalkeeper will be seen as excellent business by Dan Ashworth if it happens.
But regardless, it feels like Dubravka’s Newcastle career is definitely over. And he can certainly look back with fond memories. Most fans will remember him for his clean sheet debut against his new employers.
Dubravka was an unknown figure when he arrived at Newcastle, and he leaves as one of the best keepers the club has had during the 21st century.
