There are conflicting reports on the fee Newcastle United will have to pay for Kieran Trippier.
The England international is being heavily linked with a January move to St James’ Park. It’s looking likely that Trippier could be a Newcastle United player next month.
It would be a huge signing for the new Toon owners, who would be making a real statement of intent by signing the 31-year-old.

Trippier is reportedly interested in joining the Magpies, as he looks to seal a return to England following more than two years playing in Spain.
But how much will he cost PIF and Newcastle?
Report suggests Kieran Trippier fee could be less than £30million
On Wednesday morning, the Northern Echo claimed that Newcastle are ready to pay more than £30million to sign Trippier. That would make him the club’s second most expensive signing ever.

But will we have to pay that much? The Daily Mail suggest not…
They’ve reported that Trippier is keen to join Newcastle and aid their fight to avoid relegation. The Toon owners just need to agree a fee with Atleti.
And the Daily Mail state it could be less than £30million. They report that Diego Simeone’s side wanted £25million for Trippier in the summer.

However, they add that his asking price could be less than half of that amount in January. Trippier’s contract expires in the summer, although it will be extended for 12 months if he reaches 20 starts this season. He’s currently on 12, having missed a large chunk of action due to injury.
It feels like Atleti and Newcastle will have to meet somewhere in the middle. Perhaps the Magpies have shown their hand too early with claims on how much they’re willing to pay.
But regardless of the fee, Trippier would be a blockbuster arrival at St James’ Park who could kick off an exciting new era in black and white.
