Reported Newcastle United transfer target Dusan Vlahovic became a record-breaker with Fiorentina this weekend.

The Serbian striker was once again on the scoresheet in Serie A – this time against Salernitana.

He bagged two goals for I Viola, and there was something rather special about his first on 51 minutes.

With that strike he made history as the first player in Fiorentina’s history to score more than 30 Serie A goals in a calendar year.

Not content with that, Vlahovic then added another goal on 84 minutes. He turned in a cross at the near post, showing the predatory instincts he is rapidly becoming known for.

If he can score one more goal before the end of the year, he will equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 33 he set in 2020 for Juventus.

There is no denying Vlahovic is one of the hottest young prospects in world football at the moment.

The star is scoring goals for fun, and it is no surprise to read about speculation linking him with a move elsewhere.

Newcastle were linked with Vlahovic last month, with The Sun claiming the club would step up their efforts to sign him.

Apparently, Fiorentina would listen to offers for the player.

Fabrizio Romano reported that it will take an offer of at least €70 million/£60 million for them to sell.

Newcastle will need a miracle to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January

Dusan Vlahovic just seems to be getting better and better. At this point, Newcastle really will need a miracle to sign him in January.

The finances involved would probably not be an issue following the takeover. But the issue is surely going to be that lots of huge clubs will be interested.

Also, Vlahovic is surely unlikely to want to take part in a relegation battle.

This is a player whose talent is worthy of the Champions League.

Should any side participating in that competition come calling, then he surely wouldn’t give Newcastle a second thought.
