Newcastle United have been linked with signing Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer, and it looks like the winger could be available.

That’s according to London World reporter Rahman Osman, who has written on Twitter that the winger is likely to leave Chelsea.

Osman states that Hudson Odoi is not ‘seen as the same player’ by Thomas Tuchel and co, citing his injury issues as a contributing factor.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling can’t have helped either, with Chelsea boasting a bloated squad in the attacking department.

While it’s a blow for the 21-year-old’s hopes of becoming a star at Stamford Bridge, it could certainly help out Eddie Howe and Newcastle.

Hudson-Odoi is a good option for Newcastle with Chelsea exit ‘likely’

As it stands, Newcastle are struggling to sign attacking reinforcements. However, it’s not for lack of trying. Plenty of names have been linked, with the likes of Moussa Diaby proving to be too expensive.

So news of Hudson-Odoi’s potential availability might interest the Magpies. He is reportedly a target, after all.

Eddie Howe has been linked with a move for the wide man, with the Athletic’s Chris Waugh suggesting that Newcastle could make a move towards the end of the summer. That is much more of a possibility now that Hudson-Odoi will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.

While he hasn’t hit the heights expected of him at Chelsea, the youngster is still an exceptional talent with a lot of potential. He was hyped as the next best thing when he first burst onto the scene, with Gary Lineker saying he had ‘bags of talent‘. There was even talk of a big money move to Bayern Munich.

That doesn’t appear to be an option anymore, but Newcastle should make a move. We need a winger, and Hudson-Odoi could be the answer. He’s a direct runner who can create chances – Callum Wilson would love playing in the same team as him.

Whether it would be a loan or a permanent deal remains to be seen. It is unclear whether or not Chelsea want to lose him for good.

Any move would likely impact our interest in other Chelsea forwards, as we’ve also been linked with Armando Broja and Timo Werner.

But Hudson-Odoi’s availability should alert the Toon hierarchy, and hopefully we make a move for him.
