According to the Telegraph, a permanent move to bring Joe Willock to Newcastle from Arsenal is an option again.
It had been claimed earlier this month that a season-long loan deal was close to being completed.
Willock was sensational last season, and it is essential that we bring him back to St James’ Park.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a loan deal or a permanent deal – as long as he comes back, that’s all that matters.
However, a deal is yet to be done. The Telegraph claim that Newcastle are still waiting on a decision from Arsenal.
Could Joe Willock come back to Newcastle on a permanent deal?
The Telegraph state that a permanent deal for Willock is ‘back on the table’, rather than just a loan.
This is because Arsenal need to raise funds for their summer transfer business.
But will Newcastle really be able to complete a permanent move?
It remains unclear how much Arsenal want for Willock, but reported price tags have ranged from £20million to £30million.
That would be a lot of money for the Magpies, and way above our reported £10million transfer budget.
Obviously, a permanent move would be better for Newcastle in the long run. But who knows if Mike Ashley will sanction a deal that large.
And if Arsenal are intent on selling Willock to boost their transfer kitty, then perhaps they will look for another buyer who can actually afford him.
