Newcastle United have been made aware that they will have to pay at least £87m if they want to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Newcastle have recently been tracking the Napoli star and had sent scouts to watch him play for Georgia in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain on Sunday in which he scored after 10 minutes.
Calciomercato are now reporting that it will take a significant fee of around £87m to pry Kvaratskhelia away from Naples and bring him to the North East.
Kvaratskhelia was ‘outstanding’ for Napoli last year
The 22-year-old netted 14 times and assisted a further 17 in 43 games across both Serie A and the Champions League as Napoli enjoyed a very successful season.
The Italians won the league and the Coppa Italia as well as making it to the Champions League semi-final with the star winger’s ‘outstanding‘ performances playing a crucial role in their efforts.
This form had sparked monumental interest in Kvaratskhelia across Europe including Newcastle, but the young man chose to stay with Napoli in the summer and work alongside fellow star and
However, this season Kvaratskhelia has not been quite as prolific for Napoli – just three goals and five assists in 15 games – but Newcastle are still very interested in bringing him to St James’ Park.

Newcastle could be put off by huge price tag
Newcastle’s record transfer fee is currently £63m that was spent on signing Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad last summer and has proven to be a great bit of business even if it was a large fee.
But given the restraints of FFP and the number of positions that Eddie Howe would like to improve in, it seems unlikely that Newcastle would use up what can only be presumed to either be the majority or all of the budget on a very talented but expensive winger.
Kvaratskhelia will no doubt get a big move off the back of his form for Napoli, but Newcastle may have to wait and see if the price can be negotiated down if they are serious in their pursuit of the attacker.
