Newcastle United have been linked with a summer move for Arnaut Danjuma – a player who isn’t shy of confidence.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the Magpies are looking at a cash plus player deal to sign the Dutch winger from Villarreal. The report states that Newcastle could send Miguel Almiron the other way.
It would be huge if Newcastle could pull off such a deal. Almiron is struggling at St James’ Park, while Danjuma is one of the best wingers in world football today. That’s according to the man himself.
The 25-year-old spoke to the Guardian before Villarreal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

He said: “If we look at what I’ve done this season it’s quite fair and factual to say I’m among the best wingers in the world.”
That’s a bold claim. But the Netherlands international did his best to immediately back it up.
Arnaut Danjuma stuns Bayern Munich with Champions League winner
When the Champions League quarter finals draw took place, it looked like Bayern Munich got the easiest tie. They were drawn against this season’s surprise package Villarreal.
Most people will have tipped the Bundesliga giants to ease past Villarreal in the first leg. However, that didn’t happen.

Instead, Unai Emery’s side won 1-0, with Danjuma scoring the only goal of the game.
The former Bournemouth man struck early, netting the winner in the eighth minute. It was a poacher’s goal, coming in off the flank to redirect Dani Parejo’s shot past Manuel Neuer.
It’s a goal that could put Villarreal into the semi final of the Champions League – his 14th in all competitions this season.
Danjuma is having a brilliant season. That’s why he believes he’s one of the world’s best wingers right now.

Goals like the one he scored last night will only boost his profile, and increase Eddie Howe’s desire to be reunited with him.
It was Howe who brought Danjuma to Bournemouth. The pair worked together on the south coast, and reports suggest they could work together again at St James’ Park.
If Newcastle do sign Danjuma, they’ll be getting a player in red hot form who isn’t short of confidence. Luckily for him, he backs it up.
