Joelinton’s Newcastle United form did not earn him a callup to the Brazil World Cup squad, but international recognition could soon be on the horizon.
It was recently reported by the Daily Mail that Joelinton is being discussed for a possible callup to the Brazil side for their next round of friendlies.
The first international break since the World Cup takes place later this month, and the Selecao have a friendly against Morocco. That is strong opposition, given they came fourth at last year’s tournament in Qatar.
As for Brazil, they were knocked out at the quarter final stage. The defeat reduced Bruno Guimaraes to tears, while Joelinton watched on from home.
Now Newcastle’s number seven will soon find out if his international dream is going to be realised.

Joelinton to discover Brazil fate on Friday
Brazil are going to announce their squad for the upcoming friendly against Morocco on Friday. That means Joelinton doesn’t have to wait long to find out if he’s included. There are likely to be changes after their disappointing showing at the World Cup.
The 26-year-old has never played for the Brazil senior team. He did represent them at Under-17 level as a teenager, but that is the highest level he has played at.
However, his form over the past year for Newcastle has been outstanding, and he would no longer look out of place in a Brazil shirt. His transformation from failing forward to midfield powerhouse has been amazing.
While international breaks can often be a thorn in the side of clubs, it would be fantastic to see Joelinton get a callup to the Brazil squad.
It would give him the chance to play alongside Toon teammate Bruno, who will likely be involved in the squad – unless the injury he picked up in the Carabao Cup final is worse than first feared.
