Anthony Gordon is yet to get going for Newcastle United this season.
One of the Premier League’s leading stars last season, Gordon has scored this time around but few would doubt Newcastle are yet to have seen the best out of him.
Still, Eddie Howe has admitted the winger is not yet fully fit after returning to pre-season training later due to England’s run to the Euro 2024 final and Gordon is still at least creating plenty of chances.
Indeed, he’s also been hailed as “unbelievable” by teammate Tino Livramento, so it’s not as if his start to the season has been a disaster by any means.
A relatively underwhelming start to the Premier League season comes after a strange summer for Gordon.
There was clamour for him to start for England at Euro 2024 but the forward was handed only a few minutes by Gareth Southgate, with Gordon admitting his lack of action came as a major disappointment.
Still, with the Three Lions entering a new era on Saturday, things could be set to change for Gordon at international level.

Lee Carsley coached Gordon at England U21 level during their European Championship win last summer and is now in interim charge of the senior side.
Carsley will oversee his first game in the dugout against the Republic of Ireland in the Nations League on Saturday and the omens look promising for Gordon.
According to the Daily Mail, Gordon is in line to start in Dublin out on the left, with Jack Grealish moved into a central position behind striker Harry Kane.
