Newcastle scout now confirms his plans for new transfers

Newcastle United must chase value for money in the transfer market.

While plenty will point to PIF’s millions, Newcastle cannot simply go out and buy whoever they want whenever they want.

Indeed, FFP constraints limited what they could do in the summer, proving they do not have it all their own way.

Then there’s the actual strategy in play. While a superstar may be signed at some point, the recruitment staff have so far focused on bringing younger players into the club.

Broadly, that has worked to a tee and the club recently appointed scout Marcel Bout as chief of global scouting.

Now, the Dutchman has been sharing what his plans are.

Newcastle transfer news: Marcel Bout addresses scouting plans

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the former Manchester United scout confirmed his plans to bring the next Jude Bellingham or Erling Haaland to St James’ Park.

“I am looking for the new Haaland, Bellingham and [Jamal] Musiala,” he said.

“I am focusing on young talent up to 23-years-old who have the potential to get into Newcastle’s first team.

“My motto is that if you constantly look to the left then you can’t see anything on the right. So I look everywhere. Newcastle have brought me in to find all the big talents. I want to find the pounds among the pennies.”

Who is Marcel Bout?

That kind of thinking would certainly fit in with what the club have done thus far. Eddie Howe, after all, has previously laughed off speculative links with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

Still, it’s worth taking a look into exactly who Bout is, albeit there are not reams of information available about someone who works behind the scenes.

The 60-year-old worked with Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford and Bayern and The Chronicle recently suggested he will work for Newcastle from his HQ in the Netherlands.
