Newcastle United co-owner has given a response to the ridiculous comments made by Gabby Agbonlahor.
The former Aston Villa striker caused a stir on TalkSPORT over the weekend, claiming that Newcastle will struggle to sign players because people don’t want to live in the region.
This infuriated fans, while plenty of ex-players took aim at Agbonlahor for his ridiculous claim.
Now one of the club’s directors has commented on the matter.

‘Only getting better’
In the aftermath of Agbonlahor’s ill-advised comments, the official Newcastle Twitter account have poked a bit of fun at the 35-year-old.
They posted two glorious pictures of St James’ Park with the caption ‘because who would want to live in Newcastle, right?’.
Reuben has reacted to the tweet, writing: “Incredible city and only getting better.”
Even before the takeover, Reuben had a strong affiliation with the area. His family invest heavily in the region, and that is set to continue.
They are bringing thousands of jobs to the city, while they are making big donations to the Newcastle foodbank as well.
Agbonlahor certainly has egg on his face
The fans, former players and owners are united in their defiance against Agbonlahor. His comments were ridiculous and have been treated as such.

Plenty of people want to live in Newcastle. Why wouldn’t you? Who cares if it isn’t glorious weather! London is hardly the centre of the earth, and at least it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg for a pint up here!
As Reuben says, things are only going to get better in Newcastle – for both the club and the city.
Although perhaps we’ve simply fallen into TalkSPORT’s trap once again and given them the exposure they crave…
