The latest ridiculous claim from Gabby Agbonlahor has infuriated a lot of Newcastle fans and ex-players.
The former Aston Villa forward has been speaking on TalkSPORT, and believes Newcastle will struggle to sign players because of one reason – geography.
According to Agbonlahor, players will be reluctant to move to the north east because it’s too far north and the weather is rubbish.

“If you offered now, a player, £40,000-a-week at Newcastle, or £30,000-a-week at Brentford, he would go to Brentford – even on less money,” he said.
“Players don’t want to live in Newcastle, let’s be honest.”
For reference, this is Gabby Agbonlahor, born and raised in Birmingham and spent his entire career at Aston Villa…
It’s a completely outdated and ridiculous argument that you would only get on TalkSPORT.
Yes, Newcastle is not London. But it’s still possible to get there if you’re desperate. We don’t still have horse and carriage as our main method of transport.
And yes, it is cold in the north east. But it’s hardly tanning season in London either!

Newcastle hero Rob Lee and co bite back at Agbonlahor
Multiple former Newcastle players have taken issue with what Agbonlahor said and put him in his place.
Rob Lee wrote on Twitter: “I am a born and bred Londoner but spent 10 years living in the north east and loved it and the people!”
Lee’s former teammate Warren Barton said: “I did, Sir Les did, so did Rob Lee, David Ginola, Shaka Hislop. Great place great people.”
Steve Howey said: “This has p**sed me off. Shocking to say that. Newcastle is an amazing place and amazing people.”
Ryan Taylor also had his say on social media. He wrote: “Can’t make statements like that without living there.”
He also stated that the 35-year-old was talking rubbish with the use of a poo emoji…
This isn’t the first time Agbonlahor has said something ridiculous, and it won’t be the last. That’s why he’s on TalkSPORT.
He was a keen defender of Steve Bruce, lest we forget.

But a plethora of former Magpies have been putting him in his place. It won’t make a difference – if anything we’re doing what TalkSPORT want and engaging.
For now, it’s all talk. We will see if the proof is in the pudding when the transfer window arrives. But considering plenty of players from outside of the north east have moved to Newcastle over the years, clearly people do want to live in the region.
A fabulous place full of fabulous people. But whatever Gabby, I’m sure you know best…
