Newcastle now boast Premier League record after Man City beat Arsenal

Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League on Wednesday night by beating Arsenal, and the result means that Newcastle United now boast an impressive record this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side won 3-1 at the Emirates, thanks to goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland. It could prove to be a massive result in the title race, which the Man City boss believes Newcastle are still in.

While the Spaniard is talking nonsense, his latest win means that Newcastle are now the only Premier League team that is unbeaten at home this season.

Until last night, the Magpies and Arsenal were the only two sides yet to taste defeat at their home stadium. But the Gunners’ 3-1 defeat means St James’ Park is the last remaining fortress.

We have played 11 Premier League games at SJP during the current campaign and have not been beaten in any of them.

Newcastle put record on the line against Liverpool this weekend

Eddie Howe’s side have not lost at home all season, and that record will be on the line on Saturday night.

The Magpies welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park, with the Reds arriving full of confidence after their derby win over Everton on Monday.

And they will face an out of form Toon side that has won just once in their last five games, and will be missing key midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock.

On top of that, Liverpool are the only team to beat Newcastle in the Premier League this season. Now they have the chance to end another record belonging to the Toon.

This weekend’s game is going to be a real test. Our unbeaten run at home is under serious threat as we prepare to face a side that Howe’s Newcastle have struggled against in the past.

As previously mentioned, Liverpool beat us earlier in the season. And they were the last away team to win a game at St James’ Park. That was in April last year.

Howe’s record at home since becoming Newcastle manager is excellent. He has taken charge of 30 games at SJP, winning 17 and drawing 10. He has only lost three home games during his entire tenure, and they were against Manchester City, Liverpool and…Cambridge United.

After the result at the Emirates, Newcastle are now the only team unbeaten at home in the top flight this season, and the Magpies will do well to extend this run beyond this weekend.
