Reports in Italy confirm that Newcastle United still maintain an interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot despite the Frenchman signing a new deal at the club.

Newcastle had been heavily linked with an interest in France international Adrien Rabiot who looked to be on his way out of Juventus this summer.

The 28-year-old eventually signed up for another year at the Serie A side all but ending Newcastle’s interest this summer.

Newcastle and Man United could be in a tug-of-war for Rabiot

However reports have now come out in Italy via Calciomercato that there is set to be a tug-of-war between two Premier League sides for his services.

It wasn’t all too long ago that it came out that Manchester United were also monitoring Rabiot’s situation and now it’s believed that they lead the way for his signature with Newcastle ‘immediately behind’.

Atletico Madrid are also in the running and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Juventus came in at the last minute to keep the ‘excellent‘ midfielder at the club with the player set to become a free agent mere days after putting pen to paper.

Many Newcastle fans would rather the club gave him a wide berth

Newcastle were reportedly poised to swoop if the deal could not be agreed which would have seen the Magpies grabbing an absolute bargain.

Not all corners of the Newcastle fanbase would have been too happy, though, with many voicing concerns over the midfielder on social media, suggesting that they’d much rather he went elsewhere.

To be fair, given his attitude, he’d fit in nicely at Manchester United. Perhaps Erik ten Hag can sign him and send him to the reserves too?
