The train keeps rolling for Newcastle United.
While a trip to a relegation-threatened West Ham on a rainy midweek night hardly whets the appetite quite as much as Sunday’s clash with Manchester United in the sun at St James’ Park, that mattered little to Eddie Howe and the traveling support.
Newcastle ran out 5-1 winners in east London thanks to braces from Callum Wilson and Joelinton, as well as another goal from Alexander Isak.

Clearly, the Hammers made life a touch easier for Howe’s side with a series of individual mistakes but the sight of Newcastle’s attackers all playing well was brilliant to see.
Goals had been something of a problem during a relatively sticky patch around the Carabao Cup final but the tap appears to have been turned on again. It’s also worth noting Allan Saint-Maximin’s performance too, with the Frenchman getting another assist.
The last few games have felt particularly important to Wilson.
Callum Wilson back amongst the goals
Though Isak’s stunning form during his first season in the Premier League has Howe hinting the Swede could soon be Newcastle’s No.9, Wilson will not give that up easily.
The 31-year-oold followed up his goal on Sunday with a brace against West Ham, taking his record against them to a frankly ridiculous 12 in 13 games.
Into double figures for the second time as a Newcastle player, Wilson is eager to write himself into the record books on Tyneside.
“That’s the plan [to keep climbing scoring charts],” he told the club’s in-house media channel.
“I’m here long-term hopefully. All I want to do is keep scoring goals, I love scoring goals. Since I’ve been here it’s all I’ve been trying to do, all I’ve done and I want to continue doing.

“It’s amazing to be in the top 10 and as a striker you want to individually take down as many people as you can. I’ll have to do some research and see who is in front of me and how far away they are! I’m sure I’ll be climbing up the list.”
How many Premier League goals has Wilson scored for Newcastle?
The brace against West Ham takes Wilson into the top ten in the Premier League for Newcastle.
Wilson’s record stands at 30, three behind Ayoze Perez in ninth, four behind Rob Lee in eighth and seven off Papiss Cisse and Nolberto Solano.
Alan Shearer is a way off in with 148 but second-placed Andy Cole’s tally of 47 is certainly in sight.
Having only cost £20m in 2020, you’d have to say the club have had their value for money!
