Newcastle United hero Alan Shearer was certainly very happy with Newcastle’s stunning 5-1 win over West Ham on Wednesday night.
Newcastle‘s win on Wednesday night felt like a statement to the rest of the Premier League. It said that our league position is no fluke. We’re here to take over and we’re starting right now. Add to that the fact that even after a 5-1 win, Eddie Howe still wasn’t happy, you just know that big things are coming for this football club.
One man who will no doubt wish this revolution had come during his time playing for the club is Alan Shearer who has to make do with watching on the TV these days, usually for his job working for Match of the Day. It doesn’t stop him from celebrating though, with the Premier League’s record goal scorer sharing his delight at tonight’s win on Twitter.
Shearer’s Twitter feed was full of praise for Newcastle
Shearer tweeted: “What a win and what a great away performance from the Toon”, throwing in a few clapping emojis along with a black and white heart.
Eloquently summed up by Newcastle’s favourite son, it absolutely was a great away performance, despite Eddie Howe not being 100% happy with it.

Newcastle weren’t reliant on just one man
Shearer had a tweet out for each of the five goals Newcastle scored as he was clearly enjoying himself watching his beloved Newcastle cruise to their fourth successive victory.
Newcastle spread the wealth against West Ham with Callum Wilson and Joelinton enjoying two goals each, and super-sub Alexander Isak helped himself to one too. Similarly, there was a diverse cast of characters when it came to assists. Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Jacob Murphy all registering one a piece. Isak made his own luck.
