There are going to be big changes at Newcastle United this summer, which could lead to a very exciting few months for Toon fans.
Supporters absolutely love the transfer window, and it could end up being a very busy one for Newcastle United.
It is clear that Eddie Howe‘s squad needs a bit of an overhaul, with some ageing players no longer having the same kind of impact that they once were in black and white.
Newcastle have regressed this season. It was always going to happen, but some fans are stunned by how much worse the Magpies are doing after qualifying for the Champions League last year.
It has been a really tough campaign. Injuries have crippled us, while our summer business last year has not had the desired effect.
That is why there is pressure to deliver when the window opens this summer, and the Athletic’s Chris Waugh believes that right wing is one position that the club want to strengthen in.
Newcastle want a better right winger
The journalist has been speaking on the latest episode of Pod On The Tyne, and stated that the club feel the same as the fans about the need to improve on the right of attack.
“The right wing is a position that a lot of fans understandably, and I believe those inside the club, think needs to be upgraded this summer,” he said.

Newcastle need an improvement on Almiron and Murphy
The right wing is currently occupied by Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy. The former almost left the club during January, while the latter just is not good enough to start regularly in the Premier League.
They are both good squad players, but Newcastle need someone elite. We already have Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak in attack – we are one player away from having a near perfect front three.
Hopefully that changes this summer, with Newcastle potentially making a marquee signing in that position. One option could possibly be Nico Williams, who has been linked with the Magpies before.
He is the type of calibre player we need, and a large part of our summer transfer budget should go towards signing someone who is better than Almiron and Murphy.
