Influential Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier has sent an honest and passionate message to the club’s fans on Instagram after picking up an injury against Aston Villa.

The England international defender’s second free-kick goal in as many games was enough for Eddie Howe’s side to beat Aston Villa 1-0 at St James’ Park yesterday.

But early in the second half with no one around him, Trippier went down and had to be replaced by Emil Krafth.

The 31-year-old was pictured on crutches and wearing a protective boot after the game.

Following the concerns about the potential timeframe the former Atletico Madrid man could be out for, the club have confirmed the news that fans didn’t want to hear.

The Magpies have stated that Trippier has suffered a ‘fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot’. However, the Daily Mail add that the injury isn’t thought to be season-ending.

Newcastle’s number 15 has sent a message to the fans via Instagram.

Trippier wore the Newcastle captain’s armband for the first time against Villa. his leadership and all-round game will be a massive miss for the Toon Army.

Unbeaten in the four Premier League games Trippier has played in, Newcastle will have to build on the momentum gained without the influential defender.

When the right-back went down against Steven Gerrard’s side, St James’ Park came to a standstill in the hope that Trippier’s injury wasn’t serious.

Trippier has made reference to his unavailability for the “coming weeks” and Newcastle have to stay a tight-knit unit without a key part of the dressing room.

Newcastle are four points above the relegation zone, but the loss of Trippier feels a hammer blow.
