Newcastle fans react to Freddie Woodman absence from pre-season training camp

Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is not with the first-team at their York pre-season training camp.

According to the Shields Gazette, the 24-year-old has been left out by manager Steve Bruce.

It comes amid more transfer speculation around the player, with Swansea City and Leeds United reportedly keen.

Woodman is said to have reported back for pre-season last week, but is not with his teammates at the Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate campus.

Newcastle have games coming up against York City and Harrogate Town.

The Shields Gazette say Woodman is understood not to be part of Bruce’s plans for the coming season.

The development will only lead to further speculation.

Woodman has stated he wants to be a number one goalkeeper.

It’s unlikely he will get that at St. James’ Park, with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow two great options.
