Newcastle United fans have been paying tribute to Sergio Aguero, who officially announced his retirement from football today.

The striker was forced from the field playing for Barcelona against Deportivo Alaves on October 30 due to chest pains and dizziness.

The star went to hospital, with the football community left in shock.

After consulting with doctors, Aguero has decided to put his health first and retire from the game at the age of 33. Today, he gave an emotional address at the Nou Camp.

It is a devastating thing for Aguero to have his playing career cut short in such a way.

The star was all ready to start a new chapter with the Spanish giants, after tearing it up in the Premier League with Manchester City for 10 years.

Aguero is one of the best players the English top-flight has ever seen. And Newcastle were often on the wrong end of his genius.

He scored a whopping 15 goals for City in 15 games against the Magpies during his time in England.

There are few better individual performances in Premier League history than when Aguero helped himself to five goals against Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium in the 2015/16 season.

He also scored a hat-trick against the club, again at the Etihad, in 2017/18.

Tributes have been pouring in for Aguero from all sections of the footballing community, including from Newcastle’s own Alan Shearer on Twitter.

But Toon supporters have nothing but respect for a player who so often put on a show against their team.

Some even said that Aguero was their favourite non-Newcastle player.
