A report by the Telegraph has claimed that Michael Emenalo has turned down the role as the club’s sporting director.
Apparently the former Chelsea man travelled to Saudi Arabia for talks but will not be taking up a role at St James’ Park.
The report says the club cannot match Emenalo’s ambitious plans and has nothing to do with their position at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Apparently, that was put across by the delay in negotiations but Emenalo would be open to a new offer from Newcastle in the future.
Some Newcastle fans have had their say on the report and some believe that the club have turned Emenalo down and this is just his attempt to set the news agenda on that point.
Others are less optimistic and seem to simply want the position filled going into the January window, which will be huge for the club.
Either way, it does not look like it will be Emenalo setting Newcastle’s transfer policy going into the market in that crucial important first window since the takeover.
