Lee Charnley has left Newcastle United.
The club confirmed the news on Friday afternoon, ending Charnley’s 22 year association with the Magpies.
Charnley has spent the past seven years as the club’s managing director, but the change of ownership means his time is up.
He had stayed on initially for a handover period, as the new owners got to grips with running the club.

In the statement, Amanda Staveley thanked Charnley for his ‘support and professionalism during this time of change’.
The club also confirmed that they will be confirming a new CEO in due course. Who that is remains to be seen.
But for now, Toon fans are buzzing to see the back of Charnley. He was the one remaining figure from the previous regime.
While Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce quickly disappeared, Charnley was required to stay on. It wasn’t what the fans wanted, but clearly it was essential during the transition period from the old to the new regime.

Now all that needs to happen is for the Sports Direct signs to disappear. Hopefully that comes soon.
But fans are ready for the future, starting with Eddie Howe’s first game against Brentford.
