Lee Charnley is the last member of the previous regime still at Newcastle United.
Mike Ashley sold the club on October 7th, and 13 days later the head coach he appointed Steve Bruce was relieved of his duties.
It was expected that Charnley would follow them out of the door, but the managing director has stayed on for a handover period.
That decision makes sense, especially while the new owners get their house in order following the shock completion of the takeover last month.

Now it has been reported that Charnley has had a role in the search for a new manager.
The Magpies have been trying to appoint Unai Emery, who is currently with Villarreal.
The Spaniard is Newcastle’s number one target, and reports on Tuesday suggested that a deal could be done in time for Emery to manage the side against Brighton.
However, that now feels unlikely. The BBC have reported that Emery will reject a move to St James’ Park. It has been claimed that he has doubts about the club’s vision, as well as who the sporting director will be.
This is a huge blow for the Toon Army, and some supporters think Lee Charnley is the problem.

According to the Athletic, Charnley has been handling negotiations with the 50-year-old.
He hardly has a great reputation for getting deals over the line. Throughout the Ashley era, Charnley was ponderous in the transfer market, unable to complete the deals that the club so desperately needed.
Now the new owners are trusting him with their biggest decision yet.
Fans aren’t impressed, and think this explains why a deal for Emery is suddenly in doubt.
