Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news of Eddie Howe getting his players in for training on a Saturday morning at St. James’ Park.
The 43-year-old was announced as the club’s new manager earlier this week.
And the hard work has already started for Howe, with the Magpies currently under threat from relegation.
The team are still winless in 2021/22.
At the moment, the gap to safety is five points, and Howe undoubtedly has a huge job on his hands.
But so far, he has at least given fans a reason to get behind him.
He has looked very lively in the snippets we have seen from training.
He also spoke really well at his unveiling.
By all accounts, the players have been responding well to Howe coming in, with a training ground source claiming he has been ‘transformational’ (via Chronicle).
Newcastle fans react as Eddie Howe drags stars in for Saturday training
Yesterday morning, Toon fans were pleasantly surprised to see posts from the club showing that Howe had been putting his players through their paces in training.
It seems clear to people that Howe recognises the severity of the club’s situation.
Seemingly he feels there is a lot of work to do, with a bunch of players that have struggled for so long under the previous manager.
Here’s what some people said upon seeing pictures of Howe and the players training on a Saturday morning at St. James’ Park:
What is this strange phenomenon I’m seeing here 😳 training on a Saturday whilst international duty is on aaaand at SJP. Not used to these goings on 😳🤣

Scary that this is such a weird sight at our club. Shows how far off things we were. Thank god someone sensible now in charge of training and preparations.
Under Bruce, they’d have been out shopping all weekend during and International break!

Training at the actual pitch! Very interesting, haven’t seen that very often. Maybe its so that they can cement EXACTLY what the tactics are supposed to look like on the pitch.
Eddie Howe really looks like hes refreshing the training

Shocking that this is news! Professional athletes training, where will it all end? But that’s how far we’d fallen under the previous regime. Instead of keeping fitness levels up, as soon as a break in games came, down tools. Glad to see the new gaffer thinks differently #nufc

Still can’t get used to this “being ran like a proper club” malarkey, and getting all giddy everytime i see the lads training properly 🙂🙂⚫⚪⚫⚪

Eddie not messing around – Good to see. These players either want to part of this or they don’t. He’ll separate the wheat from the chaff.

This is fantastic to see (both the training and the social media content) – keep it up please.#nufc
