Despite a glorious run of form, on-loan Newcastle star Joe Willock won’t be going to the Euros.
Gareth Southgate named a 33-man provisional squad on Tuesday, that must be whittled down to 26 before the tournament starts.
The squad included usual candidates such as Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, while there were shock callups for the likes of Ben White and Jesse Lingard.
However, there was no Newcastle player in the 33-man squad. No Callum Wilson. No Karl Darlow. And, most shockingly of all, no Willock.

It wasn’t a surprise to see Darlow and Wilson ignored. The former is out with injury and lost his place in the starting XI back in February. As for Wilson, he’s also struggled with injury, while England have a plethora of strong attacking options.
But has Willock been harshly treated?
The midfielder has been sensational since joining Newcastle in January. He ended the season with eight goals for the Magpies, including seven in his last seven appearances.
He’s been a revelation since arriving at St James’ Park. That’s why fans want him back. That’s why the club reportedly want to sign him permanently.
But his impressive form hasn’t earned him a callup with England.

However, one Newcastle man who will be at the tournament with England is Graeme Jones.
The coach will join Southgate’s backroom staff for the tournament, before returning to Newcastle ahead of pre-season.
It’s a testament to Jones’ ability as a coach that he is joining the Three Lions at a major tournament.
But he’ll be the club’s only representative in the England camp.
While Willock maybe wouldn’t have made the final 26, it seems harsh that he didn’t make the provisional squad.
He’s one of the most in-form English players right now. However, it clearly wasn’t enough for Southgate.

Some Toon fans can’t believe Willock hasn’t been called up
